A Quick Note from the Cote D'Azure

What a day!

It was pouring rain this morning, and I thought I was going to be housebound with two cabin-fevered Chihuahuas. But when it cleared by about 1:00, I decided to take full advantage and quickly bundled everyone up for the beach. (I am only three blocks away, and yesterday JoJo and Julio had a great time, although it was windy and a bit chilly.)

Today it was warm and sunny, once the rain stopped, so I stopped by to pick up Randy and off we went. (Quite a sight, I promise you.) It was so gorgeous. No wind. The Mediterranean totally calm. Sail boats and fishing boats and wild Chihuahuas running to their hearts' content.

Randy ran around like a total madman chasing pigeons in every direction. After each chase, he would come back for a treat--as I want to keep training him to only run a certain distance and then head back. As you know, Chi's can run like rabbits, and boy did he! So fast and all over the place. (It is so funny though, because Randy can't figure out how to eat bread--even French Baguettes! So I had to give him the Italian ham and bits of goat cheese from my sandwich.)

Julio did his best to keep up, trying to corral him and cut him off at the pass, but he was simply no competition. JoJo, who normally enjoys indulging in a bit of pigeon and seagull chasing, decided today she was way above the antics of these two hoodlums, and instead hovered on my lap doing her best to pretend she didn't know them. But she quickly made friends with an 8 year old girl who was ecstatic over discovering not one but THREE Chihuahuas on her first day visiting her grandmother. JoJo simply likes people better than dogs, my mother's two doxies being the exception to that rule. In fact, rumor has it that she thinks she is a people.

Our short jaunt was a huge success with everyone getting what they wanted including the little girl who was thrilled. She is "simply dying" for a Chihuahua she informed me. I brought Randy back to Bernard's shop and then ran a few errands with my two in their joint bag. You can imagine that they are now both sacked out like Chihuahua "pelts" on the couch. It was so much fun to see them so free. Wish you could have been here. Maybe some day!
