The Southern Hope Humane Society is a 17 year old nonprofit, no-kill humane society located in the Atlanta, GA area that is dedicated to promoting and protecting the health, safety and welfare of Atlanta's homeless dogs and cats, helping pets stay in loving homes and educating the public about preventing pet overpopulation and homelessness.Southern Hope has an active pet adoption program. Southern Hope rescues dogs, cats, puppies and kittens from metro Atlanta area animal control shelters and then places them in our Roswell animal shelter, our Luv-A-Pet center in Kennesaw or in foster homes. Once the animals are examined by a veterinarian, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and combo or heartworm tested, then Southern Hope places them up for adoption and adopts them into loving homes. Some of Southern Hope's current lifesaving animal welfare rescue programs are listed below:

• Roswell Pet Adoption Shelter - Southern Hope's no-kill pet adoption shelter is located at 900 Mansell Rd, Roswell, GA, 30076. Potential adopters can view and apply for the dogs online or the cats online or visit the pets at the shelter in person. The shelter is open Wednesday - Sunday from 11am - 5pm. • Foster home program - Southern Hope has had an active no-kill foster home program for over a decade. Animals are kept in foster homes, rehabilitated, provided with medical care and adopted into new homes. Pets for adoption from our foster homes are found on this website. If you are interested in becoming a foster home for pets, please fill out our volunteer application.

• Petsmart Cat program - Southern Hope also keeps homeless cats and kittens for adoption at the Kennesaw Petsmart Seven Day cat centers. The public is welcome to view these kitties and apply to adopt them inside the Kennesaw Petsmart.

• Transport Program - In order to save even more lives, Southern Hope regularly transports 50-75 homeless animals at a time in our air conditioned/heated bus from animal control "kill" shelters in the metro Atlanta area where their lives are in danger to "no-kill" shelters in the northeasten United States where they are quickly adopted because they are in more demand.

• Heartworm Treatment Program - Southern Hope pays for the entire cost of heartworm treatment (retails for over $500) for heartworm positive dogs before they are adopted from our shelter or our foster home program. About 25% of adult dogs at metro Atlanta shelters are heartworm positive.

• Veterinary Treatment Program - Southern Hope provides lifesaving veterinary treatment for sick or injured animals in our care.

• Volunteer Program - Southern Hope is always looking for more dedicated volunteers. Volunteers can assist with caring for animals at our Roswell Shelter or at our seven day a week cat program at the Kennesaw Petsmart. • Don't Get A Dog - Southern Hope has initiated the Don't Get A Dog program in order to promote responsible pet ownership.
